Course Topics

There are a lot of blanks in PJC (current version of Bṛhat Parāśara available in the world) and JSP (4 adhyāya of Jaimini). Having firmly established the proper teaching of these two classical literature in 5-year courses that will lead to Bachelors and Masters degrees in Jyotiṣa in the future in universities of the world as and when this is a more accepted subject, we now embark on filling the lost spaces.

A large amount has been covered in Mantra Shastra Programs. MSP-1 teaches the Sharada Tilakam while MSP-2 and MSP-3 goes into remedies, graha mantras and curses of various kinds. We are unable to enter into the proper study of daśā without a very strong foundation. Clearly there is no absolutely basic jyotiṣa that is very structured and explains every planetary position like rāśi, nakṣatra and other domains. We first took the fast moving Moon and defined the various types of months ~ chandra māsa, tithi-māsa. Then we took this māsa block and defined twelve such months with the Sun to form the sidereal zodiac. We need to go into the very root of kāla (time definitions) for each graha before embarking on daśā. We have not finalised the topics for Bṛhaspati Jyotiṣa, but broadly these are some –

1. Nāḍi Aṁśa d150 chart
2. Ṣaṣṭyāmśa methods » Sūryaṁśa (saṅjñā is sūrya śaktī like chāyā devī) and other options
3. Pañca Prāṇa in more detail » this is useful for ayurveda
4. Upagraha and Aprakāśa Graha. For example, how can gulika give mokṣa? That sounds impossible but it does give mokṣa and we need to know what invisible graha are like and how they work.
5. Kāla Jñāna » A deeper study of the basics
6. Graha, Nakshatra » Some more details about Graha and whole series on Nakshatra Vidya. Recently we talked of MKS planets and suicide reason. We go into such other matters of the graha.

If you are interested and have at least completed PJC-2 by 2023, then consider signing up for this. It will take us two years to get somewhere.

We have started doing Nakshatra. If you are up to it, consider joining now. And yes, if you have a topic in mind that needs to be covered in current or future Brhaspati Jyotisa Course, mention it in the comments
